  • UPDATE: Gusty winds and rain increasing through the day

Although the latest forecasts of Hurricane Irma show the storm striking the Florida west coast, residents in Jacksonville and the rest of the First Coast need to be prepared for the hurricane. Jacksonville will continue to see hurricane and tropical storm conditions until Monday night, and there will be a chance of scattered showers throughout the rest of the week. While much of today pans out on the dry side, cloud cover will increase through this afternoon as rain chances ramp up this evening.

There will be off and showers Tuesday and Wednesday. The Naples airport reported a wind gust of 142 miles-per-hour just before the eye came ashore. No severe weather is anticipated.

Once Irma's remnants meander through the area and out to sea, we're left with partly sunny skies and a largely quiet weather pattern early next week.

Partly to mostly cloudy with a shower in spots toward dawn. Gusts will reach as high as 20+mph tonight. Overnight lows around 60. Rain and flooding was a major issue for coastal SC for Irma on Tuesday due to the storm surge and heavy bands of rain that continuously made their way on shore from the Atlantic. Highs in the mid 60s. Saturday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 9pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 9pm and midnight, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after midnight. Warm air will continue to push northward, with highs Wednesday and Thursday both pushing 80 degrees in Syracuse with upper 70s in the rural areas.
