The BlackBerry Priv was one of BlackBerry's first Android devices - it carried the same design language from the Canadian company, but it was one of their first to try Android, all in 2015. Back in 2015, the Priv came out running on Android 6.0 which is already pretty late on the timeline. The handset was launched with Android 5.1 Lollipop back in November 2015 and received an update to the Marshmallow version past year.

At that point of time, the Priv is in its final active days hence it fully deserves a final OS update.

Any BlackBerry Priv users out there? According to BlackBerry's GM, Alex Thurber, the Priv won't get updated to Android Nougat. It is good because receiving security updates will ensure your BlackBerry device remains ahead of any potential threats. BlackBerry does continue to support Priv, DTEK50, and DTEK60 (and of course KEYone) with security updates but even these Thurber explained require a complex matrix of partners working together, including the licensees, carriers, Qualcomm and of course BlackBerry. The smartphone comes with 5.4-inch QHD (1440x2560 pixels) display with Corning Gorillas Glass 4 protection.

The handset is armed with an 18-megapixel rear camera that comes with Schneider-Kreuznach optics, optical image stabilization, autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash light. A front-facing 2MP camera is there with f/2.8 aperture. This means that the Priv users are now stuck on the Android Marshmallow and will never receive any Android update. It's on board storage stands at 32GB which can be expanded up to 200GB using a microSD card.
