Nicholas Van Varenberg, the 21-year-old son of Hollywood action film star Jean-Claude Van Damme, is facing criminal charges after allegedly holding his roommate at knifepoint at their apartment in the USA city of Tempe, Arizona.

Authorities in Tempe, Arizona, claim 21-year-old Nicolas Van Varenberg refused to let his roommate leave their apartment early on Sunday after the victim had let concerned officers into the residence to perform a welfare check.

Tempe police were called to an apartment complex near Veterans Way and College Avenue after receiving reports of a disturbance in an elevator, police said. After speaking with him and a roommate, they discovered Nicholas had an injured hand.
